Built for investors who want an honest mirror.
Investor Amp is a strengths-based psychometric assessment designed for serious investors who want to understand their own decision-making architecture — not just be told they're better than average.
Most investment education focuses on strategy, valuation, and macroeconomics. Very little focuses on the one variable that determines whether any strategy actually gets executed correctly: the investor themselves.
The 8 Core Dimensions
The assessment evaluates 8 distinct psychological and behavioural dimensions that research and practitioner evidence consistently identify as the primary drivers of long-term investor performance:
- Epistemic Rigour — Your ability to separate evidence from narrative in investment research.
- Hypotheses Synthesis — Your discipline in actively seeking out and processing disconfirming evidence.
- Calibration of Scope — Your honesty about the edges of your genuine circle of competence.
- Ideological Autonomy — Your independence from crowd consensus and social validation signals.
- Temporal Anchoring — Your ability to evaluate and hold investments across the correct time horizon.
- Volatility Insulation — Your psychological resilience during periods of significant market turbulence.
- Kinetic Restraint — Your resistance to the impulse toward unnecessary portfolio activity.
- Systemic Rigidity — Your commitment to documented process over in-the-moment improvisation.
The Compound Matrix
Beyond individual dimension scores, Investor Amp resolves a compound profile based on your top two and bottom two dimensions. These pairings produce qualitatively distinct investor archetypes that no single dimension score captures — because in practice, strengths and weaknesses interact, amplify, and constrain each other in ways that matter enormously for long-run performance.
The assessment generates 1 of 28 unique Compound Advantage profiles and 1 of 28 unique Compound Disadvantage profiles based on your results.
Methodology
The assessment uses a situational judgement format across 40 questions — 5 per dimension. Each question presents a behavioural scenario the respondent either endorses or rejects with a binary yes/no answer. The scoring map is not disclosed prior to completion to minimize social desirability bias.
The framework draws on decades of behavioural finance research, including work on confirmation bias, loss aversion, overconfidence, and temporal discounting, adapted into a practitioner-facing instrument designed for active investors rather than academic respondents.
Who built this?
Investor Amp was designed and built by a team with backgrounds spanning behavioural psychology, psychometric assessment design, and long-term equity investing. The product emerged from a belief that the most valuable thing an investor can do — after learning the fundamentals — is develop an accurate model of their own decision-making architecture.
