FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How long does the assessment take?

The assessment consists of 40 situational judgement questions answered with a binary Yes or No. Most respondents complete it in 4–6 minutes. There is no time limit, and you can take as long as you need to reflect on each question.

Is the assessment really free?

Yes. The full assessment, all dimension scores, your compound advantage profile, and your compound disadvantage profile are all delivered free of charge. No credit card, no subscription, no account required.

Do you collect any personal data?

No. Your answers are processed entirely in your browser and are never transmitted to our servers. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information. We use Plausible Analytics — a privacy-respecting, GDPR-compliant analytics tool — to track aggregate usage data (page views, completion rates) without any user-level tracking or cookies.

Can I retake the assessment?

Yes. A 'Retake Assessment' button appears on your results page. You can retake it as many times as you like. Because we don't store your data, each session starts fresh. Some investors find it useful to retake the assessment after major portfolio events or periods of significant market stress.

What are the 8 investor dimensions?

The 8 dimensions assessed are: Epistemic Rigour, Hypotheses Synthesis, Calibration of Scope, Ideological Autonomy, Temporal Anchoring, Volatility Insulation, Kinetic Restraint, and Systemic Rigidity. Each captures a distinct psychological and behavioural trait that research identifies as a driver of long-term investment outcomes. You can read more about each dimension on the About page.

What is the Compound Advantage / Compound Disadvantage?

The Compound profiles are generated by combining your two highest-scoring dimensions (Compound Advantage) and your two lowest-scoring dimensions (Compound Disadvantage). These pairings describe how your top strengths interact and amplify each other — and how your weakest dimensions create compounded risk patterns that no single score captures. There are 28 unique profiles for each, giving 784 possible combinations.

How should I answer the questions — honestly or aspirationally?

Answer based on your actual behaviour, not the investor you aspire to be. The assessment is most useful — and most honest — when it reflects your real patterns. If you find yourself wanting to answer the 'right' way rather than the true way, that reaction itself is informative. The scoring map is not disclosed, so answering strategically is harder than it seems.

Is this a financial advice tool?

No. Investor Amp is a psychometric and behavioural assessment tool. It does not provide financial advice, portfolio recommendations, or specific investment guidance of any kind. The results are designed to help you understand your own decision-making patterns — what you do with that understanding is entirely your own decision.

How is this different from other investor personality tests?

Most investor personality assessments categorise you into a risk tolerance bucket or a generic archetype. Investor Amp measures your behavioural tendencies across dimensions that have direct and documented links to investment outcomes — including your failure modes. The goal isn't to make you feel good about your investing style; it's to give you an accurate picture of your actual decision-making architecture.
